Pruina is the name of the wax you can find on the skin of the grapes. Vini la Pruina some years ago started looking for some vineyards particularly suited to high quality viticulture. After continuous research throughout the area of Salento, they found two small vineyards belonging to Pietro, a wise vinegrower who had always treated them according to traditional methods and manual care. Intrigued and fascinated by the extraordinary relationship between Pietro and his plants Vini La Pruina becomes one of the vinery which express the Salento terroir and the passion for it. The flagship is the Primitivo di Manduria DOP and with the Salice Salentino, Malvasia Bianca and Negroamaro Rosato you have a full range of wine perfect for any moment.
Salice Salentino
This is one of Puglia’s most successful denominations and one of the first to gain wide recognition abroad. Produced in the little town of Salice Salentino and in other nearby areas between the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce in southern Puglia on the Salento peninsula.
The premier grape of Salice Salentino is Negroamaro, producing both red wine and rosé, either alone or blended with Malvasia Nera but at least 75% of the wine must be Negroamaro. Some producers make 100% varietal wines. Less common are versions based on Aleatico, which can be fortified or sweet.
Established in 1976, the Salice Salentino DOC comprises almost 4000 vineyard acres, enjoying cool breezes from both the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Its deep soils are mostly clay-limestone.
