Aglianico “L’Istante” Rosé 2018 – Cantina La Marchesa
£43.40
L’Istante is an elegant rosé sparkling wine crafted from Aglianico grapes using the Champenoise Method. With its bright pink color, this wine offers an aromatic bouquet of intense ripe strawberries, cherries, and rose petals.
On the palate, L’Istante reveals a lively mousse, balanced structure, and pleasant acidity. Crisp flavours of red fruits dance on the palate. The finish is long and persistent, yet delicate. It is perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood dishes, light appetisers, and cheeses. The wine’s complexity and freshness truly capture the vibrant nature of Aglianico. Outstanding!

Aglianico “L’Istante” Rosé, why we love it and why you'll love it too!
Known as the “Nebbiolo of the South” and believed to be one of Italy’s oldest grape varieties, Aglianico stands proudly alongside Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. It’s widely regarded as one of the world’s great red grapes. This nickname only scratches the surface, yet it hints at the variety’s ability to express finesse and pedigree across a range of unique vineyard sites.
Some of the most exciting examples come from Puglia, Campania, and Basilicata. Aglianico del Sannio, in particular, often shows its best after a few years of ageing. Still, many current releases are already wonderfully accessible while maintaining the structure and depth to age gracefully. And sometimes, brave winemakers choose to capture its magic in an instant. The Aglianico “L’Istante” Rosé is a wine with structure and ambition, one that dares to dream of becoming a Champagne.
Cantina La Marchesa
Cantina La Marchesa was founded 10 years ago by Marika and Sergio, two passionate wine lovers who turned their dream into reality. Located in Lucera, in northern Puglia, the winery oversees 14 hectares of vineyards situated just 300 metres from the cellar. This close proximity allows for a fast, gentle harvest that protects the aromatic integrity of the grapes.
The winery is deeply rooted in tradition and works exclusively with native Puglian varieties such as Nero di Troia and Bombino Bianco. Every step of the production is carried out by hand, by skilled and experienced workers who share the same values.
In spring, excess leaves are carefully removed to let the warm southern sun ripen the fruit. Later, the vines are pruned to leave only the best clusters, ensuring quality over quantity.
Marika and Sergio strongly believe that great wine starts in the vineyard. From growing the grapes to bottling the wine, they personally oversee every stage of the process. At Cantina La Marchesa, passion and hard work are at the heart of every bottle.
