Sangiovese Resultum 2013 – Umberto Cesari

This wine is iconic of the winery’s sustainability approach. Resultum, from the Latin verb ”resilire”, is a tribute to the natural ability of the Estate vineyards to adapt to the marked climate changes occurring in recent years. A red wine styled for lengthy cellaring, with the Sangiovese grapes grown in vineyards averaging 20 years old and yielding 6.5 tonnes of grapes per hectare. After meticulous quality-selection of the berries, the must ferments in temperature-controlled, fibreglass-lined concrete vats, with a successive maceration on the skins of 25-30 days. It matures a number of months in the same vats, then ages in the bottle for an additional 12 months.

Tauleto is a dialect term applied by local farmers to a plot with abundant water resources. The springs running under the Sangiovese in the Tauleto vineyard contribute to minimising water stress in the vines.
