Pinot Noir Pioneer Block 26 2017 – Saint Clair

100% Pinot Noir from Saint Clair’s Tutu Block located in the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough. ‘Tutu’ is a native plant which once grew on the property. Maturation lasted for 7 months in French oak and older seasoned 225 litre barriques. Aromas of dark berries, chocolate and perfumed violets lead to a full bodied palate which is round, seamless and full of delicious ripe raspberries, dark plum and coffee. The Desertaux Ferrand, Cote De Nuit Village Vielles Vignes is an incredibly elegant red wine made from old Pinot Noir vines in Burgundy. Lower yields and more concentrated flavours. Red and black fruit berry notes with peppery notes. Intense on the palate, with great finesse and balanced tannins.
Vielles Vignes is a French wine term meaning: ‘old vines’ – commonly used on wine labels to indicate that a wine is the product of grape vines that are particularly old. As a result yields decrease, which can lead to more concentrated, better quality wines. Drink 2021 to 2028.
