Vin de la Neu 2020 – Nicola Biasi

£140.00

The 2020 vintage is incredibly captivating. It reveals a blend of floral and fruity notes reminiscent of magnolia blossoms, gardenias, chamomile flowers, white peaches, crushed almonds, and rose petals. Additional nuances of thyme and white pepper define the secondary profile. It’s sweet at its core, perhaps the sweetest vintage on the nose ever. Full-bodied, with a distinctly linear and vibrant savoury structure, and a juicy, bold finish that relies on precision and the length of the aftertaste as its main strengths. Drink now or let it age—this wine is exceptional.

Nicola Biasi, born in Cormons in 1981, is an internationally renowned winemaker. After formative experiences in Friuli, Australia, South Africa, and Tuscany, he led prominent wineries like San Polo and Poggio al Tesoro.
In 2012, he launched his personal project, Vin de la Neu, cultivating the resilient Johanniter grape at nearly 1000 meters above sea level. This wine has received prestigious awards, including Next in Wine 2015. Since 2016, Biasi has been a successful consultant, and in 2021, he was named Italy’s Best Young Winemaker and Cult Oenologist. In 2022, he founded “Resistenti Nicola Biasi,” a network focused on sustainably producing exceptional wines.

Vin de la Neu

Vin de la Neu is Nicola Biasi’s masterpiece, designed to break conventions and create a new category of wines. These wines are unique, offering diverse expressions in each vintage with immense potential for evolution.

Driven by his ambition to innovate, Nicola Biasi revived high-quality viticulture in an area once ideal for grapevines but now known for apple orchards. This visionary project found its home in the breathtaking Dolomite mountains, specifically in the Non Valley of Trentino.

In 2012, Nicola boldly uprooted his family’s apple orchard and planted Johanniter, a white Piwi grape variety resistant to fungal diseases. The results were immediate and remarkable. The first harvest in 2013 yielded 300 bottles. Although they were not for sale, these bottles demonstrated the experiment’s success and hinted at the promise of future vintages. By 2020, production reached 957 bottles, with the vintage aptly named “The Finesse.” Each vintage has its own identity, offering distinct nuances crafted around the elegant and vibrant character of this unique terroir.

The Vin de la Neu vineyard was created with a single goal: to produce the highest quality grapes, resulting in the best Italian white wine.
