Verdicchio Riserva DOCG “Fiore” 2015 – Viticoltori Finocchi

£25.90

Fiore Riserva shows a deep straw yellow colour with golden reflections and an amber hue; a sign of its depth and evolution. The bouquet is layered and inviting, with notes of caramelised apple, vanilla, almond, coconut, and a touch of tobacco.
On the palate, it’s rich and full-bodied, yet lifted by bright acidity. This is not an easy wine, nor is it meant to be.
The finish is long, rich, complex, and persistent. A wine for those who enjoy being surprised. For those who seek depth, not convenience.
Challenging to pair, it finds its perfect match in well-aged cheeses.

Verdicchio Riserva DOCG "Fiore", Why we love it and why you’ll love it too!

This wine doesn’t ask to be liked. It asks to be understood.
Verdicchio Riserva DOCG “Fiore” is bold, and uncompromising. It’s nearly amber in the glass, a clear sign that this isn’t your everyday white.
You’ll smell caramelised fruit, toasted almond, coconut, and a trace of tobacco. Then comes the sip: full-bodied, structured, and sharp where it matters. It lingers, shifts, challenges.
You know that gentle oxidative note you sometimes find in grower Champagne — the kind that’s intentional and elegant? You’ll find that here, too.
It’s not easy to pair, and it’s not trying to be. But give it a slice of well-aged cheese, and it sings. This wine is not for everyone, and that’s exactly why we love it.

Viticoltori Finocchi

Winegrowers for four generations, Viticoltori Finocchi is a family-run winery located in Staffolo, in the heart of the Marche region.
Perched at 442 meters above sea level, the estate blends tradition and innovation to craft wines of true character and quality.
The vineyards enjoy an ideal position in one of the most celebrated areas for Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is one of Italy’s finest native white grape varieties. It is celebrated for its elegance, aging potential, and unmistakable identity.
This grape thrives in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region, home to both DOC and DOCG designations. The name refers to the hilltop villages surrounding Jesi, each crowned with a medieval fortress.
Towns like Staffolo, Cupramontana, Montecarotto, Castelbellino, and Castelplanio offer breathtaking views over rolling hills and limestone valleys.

Verdicchio has often been called the “white Barolo”. This nickname reflects its complexity, refinement, and longevity.
The best bottles from the Castelli di Jesi offer vibrant aromatics, youthful freshness, and incredible aging potential.

At its best, Verdicchio is both distinctive and thrilling. As it ages, it develops greater depth, gaining complexity over time.
Many wines reach their peak between five and ten years.
That’s why we recommend opening one bottle today — and saving another for the future.
