Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2019, Why We Love It And Why You'll love it Too!
Pinino’s vineyards benefit from two distinct terroirs, each adding unique characteristics to the wine. This diversity enhances Rosso di Montalcino DOC, just as it does for Brunello di Montalcino.
The first vineyard sits in Montosoli, north of Montalcino. This area has long been considered one of the premier locations for Sangiovese Grosso. The second vineyard is in Canchi, northeast of the region. Here, a mild climate allows for slow and even ripening.
This strategic diversification maximises the strengths of each microclimate.
As a result, Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2019 gains both elegance and aging potential, making it a wine of remarkable finesse.
Pinino | A Legacy of Excellence
Pinino‘s story began in 1874 with Tito Costanti, a visionary lawyer and one of the first scholars of Brunello di Montalcino. His work helped shape the reputation of this prestigious wine.
By 1950, Pinino had already become a key player in Montalcino’s wine industry. It was among the first wineries registered in the Brunello producers’ association and played a foundational role in the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino.
Fast forward to 2003, the estate changed hands. The Gamon family from Austria and the Hernández family from Spain joined forces to elevate Pinino’s winemaking standards.
A new milestone arrived in 2024. Pinino became part of Il Borro Toscana, a renowned estate in Valdarno di Sopra. This transition happened under the leadership of Ferruccio Ferragamo, ushering in a new era for the winery.
The 2019 Vintage | A Year of Balance
The 2019 growing season started with a mild, dry spring and little rainfall.
Summer brought warm days, but cooler nights and occasional showers helped maintain vineyard health. These conditions prevented hydric stress, allowing for a slow and steady ripening process.
As a result, the grapes achieved optimal maturity, giving the wine a rich, structured profile. The 2019 vintage showcases a perfect balance of freshness, depth, and elegance.
