Gewurztraminer DOC 2022 Tramin, Why we love it and why you’ll love it too!

Gewurztraminer DOC 2022 by Tramin is no exception.
Like every other wine from this winery, I absolutely love it!
Termeno is the true homeland of Gewürztraminer — the perfect place for it to thrive.
I fell in love with their wines many years ago, and they have never disappointed me since.
It’s vibrant, expressive, and beautifully balanced between sweetness and freshness. Perfect for a seafood dinner, but just as brilliant with spicy or bold flavours.
It’s the kind of wine you reach for when you want to travel without leaving your table.
A bottle full of brightness, energy, and life.

TRAMIN

Cantina Tramin, the true home of Gewürztraminer, was established in 1898 in the Trentino Alto Adige region.
It began as a small project, initiated by Christian Schrott, a priest from Termeno and a member of the Austrian Parliament.
His aim was simple but vital: to provide a future and sustenance for mountain winegrowers.

Thanks to the strength of this union, Cantina Tramin grew over time and became one of the most renowned cooperative wineries in the region, gaining international recognition.
In 1971, Tramin merged with the historic Cantina Sociale of Egna, founded in 1893.
This merger united traditions and vineyards, including prestigious sites like Mazzon and Glen, renowned for Pinot Nero.
A major shift towards quality began in the 1990s with the arrival of winemaker Willi Stürz. He launched the Selezione project, which now includes iconic wines like Nussbaumer, Terminum, Stoan, Maglen, Urban, and Loam.
Each bottle reflects careful vineyard selection and the highest expression of Tramin’s expertise.

Today, every decision made at Cantina Tramin follows one simple principle: working together to create wines that are a true, harmonious expression of the land.

Gewurztraminer

Gewürztraminer is a white grape variety famous for its highly aromatic and expressive nature.
Originally from Alsace, France, it now thrives in many wine regions worldwide, with exceptional examples from Germany and northern Italy.
The name “Gewürztraminer” means “spiced Traminer,” highlighting its intense and exotic aromatic profile.
Expect aromas of lychee, rose petals, passion fruit, and spices like ginger and cinnamon.

Gewürztraminer wines typically show a rich golden colour.
On the palate, they are medium to full-bodied, with a lush texture and a hint of natural sweetness.
Flavours layer tropical fruits, floral notes, and warm spices, balanced by refreshing acidity that keeps the wine lively and vibrant.

This variety performs best in cooler climates, where its aromatics fully develop.
It produces a range of styles, from dry to off-dry and even luscious sweet wines.
Gewürztraminer is also a versatile partner at the table.
It pairs beautifully with spicy cuisines, Asian dishes, strong cheeses, and aromatic desserts.
