Cortese DOC Montecroce, Why We Love It and Why You'll Love It Too

A legend surrounds Cortese DOC Montecroce, where a great cross was erected to honour a battle between the Aleramici and the Saracens. The Aleramici claimed victory. This triumph was celebrated with grand festivities and fresh, low-alcohol wine, perfect for drinking in abundance.
That wine is Cortese, a native white grape variety grown for centuries in the hills of Alto Monferrato.
It is light, enjoyable, and ideal for easy drinking. Its character has remained the same over time—wars aside!

Fun fact: Gavi di Gavi is made from the same Cortese grape. However, the difference lies in location. Gavi di Gavi comes from wines produced in the municipality of Gavi, the region’s heart. Cortese DOC, on the other hand, includes wines from a broader area. Both share the unmistakable charm and refreshing qualities of this native variety.
