Bolgheri

Bolgheri is a renowned wine region located on the western coast of Tuscany, Italy, famous for producing some of the finest Italian wines known for their excellence and international prestige. The area is particularly renowned for red wines made from grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese.
Favourable climatic conditions, with a temperate Mediterranean climate and the moderating influence of the sea, create an ideal environment for grape cultivation. Bolgheri’s terroir is well-suited for the production of high-quality wines.
Among the most celebrated wines from Bolgheri are the so-called “Supertuscans,” a term coined in the 1970s to describe high-quality red wines produced in Tuscany, often combining traditional Italian grape varieties with international ones. These wines are renowned for their complexity, structure, and aging potential.
Some of the most prestigious wineries in Bolgheri include Tenuta San Guido, known for producing the famous Sassicaia, one of Italy’s most renowned wines worldwide, and Ornellaia, which produces the eponymous wine.
