Barolo DOCG San Giovanni Riserva , Why We Love It And Why You'll love it Too!
This 2017 Barolo Riserva marks the first reserve vintage for the San Giovanni cru, a wine with exceptional aging potential.
Its garnet-red hue hints at its elegance and depth. The aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, and strawberry are vibrant and well-defined, while the medium body and smooth tannins create a harmonious, lingering finish.
We love Barolo DOCG San Giovanni Riserva because it represents the essence of traditional Barolo. This wine is perfect for aging but also enjoyable now, thanks to its beautifully integrated structure.
Broccardo | A Legacy of Passion e Tradition
Three siblings: Filippo, Laura, and Federica Broccardo, have turned their family’s heritage into a thriving winery. Their story is one of respect for the land, relentless dedication, and a commitment to producing authentic Langhe wines.
In the 1970s, the family primarily grew and sold grapes, making wine only for close friends. Over time, their passion led them to focus on crafting high-quality wines, exclusively from native grape varieties.
At Broccardo, winemaking philosophy is about purity and authenticity. They preserve the natural fruit character of each grape, avoiding unnecessary interventions. This approach ensures that every bottle reflects the unique essence of the Langhe region.
Since 2014, Broccardo has been part of the UNESCO-listed Langhe area, a recognition of its historical and cultural significance in winemaking.
Their philosophy blends tradition with innovation, keeping alive the timeless techniques passed down through generations while embracing modern advancements. The result? Wines that tell the story of the land and the people who nurture it.
San Giovanni | A Historic Barolo Cru
San Giovanni is a Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MGA) that stays true to tradition and history. It encompasses both slopes of the hill named after the San Giovanni locality.
The western-facing slope, oriented toward Novello, has never been vinified in purity but enjoys excellent sun exposure.
The eastern-facing slope, known for its high-quality Barbera, has been successfully vinified for years.
This unique positioning contributes to San Giovanni’s distinctive Barolo style, characterised by depth, balance, and longevity.
