Merlot DOC Enigma 2023 – Tenuta San Giorgio
£13.90
A red wine with an intense and characteristic aromatic profile, showcasing the unique qualities of its terroir. Its flavour journey begins with fruity forest notes and transitions to ethereal balsamic sensations. On the palate, it is harmoniously dry, savoury, and well-structured, making it the perfect companion for traditional dishes with bold flavours, such as guinea fowl with potatoes. The winery also suggests trying it with tuna tataki!

Merlot DOC Enigma, Why We Love It and Why You'll Love It Too
We love Merlot DOC Enigma because it’s one of those wines you can never go wrong with. Whatever the occasion—a chat with a friend, a small party, or an outdoor barbecue—and whatever the food, from cheeses to cured meats (and, as the winery suggests, even tuna!), it always fits the moment and makes an impression! With excellent value for money, we have a fantastic working relationship with this winery and are confident this is just the beginning.
A wine that never disappoints.
Tenuta San Giorgio
“Our estate has a family history rooted in authentic values and deep traditions. Since 1971, the passion for fine wine and the land has been passed down from one generation to the next.
At the heart of Tenuta San Giorgio lies a profound sense of family, sharing, and respect. These values sustain a historic winery that honours tradition while embracing the innovative spirit of the new generations.
The story of our estate began in 1971 when Sergio Tombacco, driven by a passion inherited from his father Lodovico, founded Tenuta San Giorgio. He chose the beautiful and fertile lands of the Piave, acquiring vineyards that had flourished there for over a century.
Over 50 years, three generations have shaped our journey. Sergio was succeeded by his sons Giorgio, Valerio, and Marco, who introduced important innovations to the estate. They, in turn, involved their own children in the business, creating the team we have today.”
In 2004, the estate achieved a significant milestone: its first gold medal at Vinitaly. This recognition celebrated the quality of products crafted with a love for the land, a passion for authentic flavours, and a commitment to family values.
